The
active ingredients in cannabis are called cannabinoids. There
are many cannabinoids synthesized by the plant including tetrahydrocannabinol,
cannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabinolidic acid, cannabigerol, and
cannabichromene. Cannabis
is the most durable of the hemp plants, and it produces the toughest
cloth, called `canvass.' The cannabis plant also produces three
other very important products which the other hemp plants do not;
seed, pulp, and medicine.
It
is often said and posted in propaganda ads that Cannabis contains
over 400 chemicals. In reality, most organic compounds like plants,
are composed of hundreds, if not thousands of chemicals. There
is nothing unusual about this high number. To the 'average Joe',
this makes Cannabis sound like it is some sort of toxic waste.
